If you are a small biz / crafty enterprise and need a nice looking web presence, I can help.

Info

Website Development Only

I pride myself on solid, up to standards code no matter what the platform. I am very versed in custom theme development for Wordpress and straight HTML5/CSS3 for non-cms sites, for which I often use Bootstrap as a framework. I will add basic content for reference on Wordpress projects, but do not add content for the entire site for a few reasons: a) it saves the client money and b) it helps with the client learning curve. I Include 1 hour of training in all development projects.

Rates START at

  • $1200 - Custom Wordpress Blog Theme (3-4 page templates)
  • $1400 - Marketing/Informational site (5-ish pages)
  • $1800 - Ecommerce site (Shopify, Big Cartel, Squarespace)

Website Design & Development

My website design services are NOT as extensive as full branding and identity services, but act as a happy medium for those who are just starting out and may not have the resources to invest in full brand development. I cater to clients who want a straightforward, user-friendly website that represents their business. I do not provide logo design, but will definitely consider your logo in the overall look and feel of the site. I Include 1 hour of training in all design and development projects.

Rates START at

  • $1500 - Custom Wordpress Blog Theme (3-4 page templates)
  • $2000 - Marketing/Informational site (5-ishpages)
  • $2500 - Ecommerce site (Shopify, Big Cartel, Squarespace)

How to get started

  • You can download a sample contract here to view the terms and get a sense of what you can expect from me and what I’ll expect from you.
  • Contact me and we’ll talk on the phone so I can get a better sense of your needs. I’ll then provide you with a quote for the work.
  • Once you book your project, I’ll have you fill out a brief questionaire about your goals and your design preferences (if it’s a design project). I’ll provide you with a mood board and wireframes for the site and a few mockups. You’ll have 2 rounds of revisions if needed and once the designs are approved, I’ll begin development.
  • Timeline depends on the number of pages being built and the functionality required on the site, but generally expect development projects to take between 3-5 weeks, and design and development projects to take between 10-12 weeks.

About Me

About shiv

The Basics

When I’m not sitting in front of my computer, you can find me either with my sewing machine or entertaining two little people who call me “mommy”. I code for my day job, and don’t mind coding for my side job, so I guess I really like coding. I also like making upcycled kids clothing, which I sell at my Etsy shop, Little Bit Kids, and jewelry, which I sell at my other Etsy shop, Shivika Asthana Jewelry Design. All in all i’m pretty effing busy, but that’s how I like it to be.

Beyond the Basics

I filmed an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba! last year with my old band, Papas Fritas, for which I sang and played the drums. I have been to Mongolia. I try and blog, but it’s just not happening. I love to meet fun and happy people but generally find friends in people who are willing to share their ups AND downs.

I love to work with people who are excited about what they do, who can laugh at themselves, and who are as busy as I am.

Disclaimer: My portfolio of work is a tad slim mainly because until now, I’ve done most of my web work for my full time job and many of the projects I’ve worked on are either proprietary apps or internal sites. My hope is to become more active in the web dev/lady web dev community. I’m working on a resources page to share along with some workflow tools.
